This year’s event will begin from August 27 to September 3.
The line-up was partially revealed on Wednesday evening. The musical week features week-long festivities around the capital. This event will be in its third year.
For the Saturday line-up, the organisers have revealed that multi award winning DJ Black Coffee will headline the event. Just as a teaser without revealing the line-up, Black Coffee, whose hit song “Dance again” enjoyed massive airplay around the country, will be accompanied by locally-born DJ Fresh and Dramaboi. These are the only three names the organisers have thus far revealed, but promised to continue revealing more in the coming weeks.
The event organiser, Fish Pabalinga, told Showbiz that there will be a new edition to the week festival this year. “This year we will include another feature; we will have theatre this time around. We have approached leading actors in the country,” he said.
Last year the event was held at the National Stadium but notably received little attendance than expected. Although widely publicised, the event failed to live up to raise the expected numbers.
The arrival of vice president Mokgweetsi Masisi at the show last year stole the limelight of the show. He showed up at the MultiChoice Botswana marquee, which was also the highlight of the event.
The dates for this year’s event have been confirmed for September 3. The week-long event traditionally starts with a poetry session, followed on the next day by a choral music show. On the third day it is usually a comedy show followed by the major musical festival held at the National Stadium on the next day. Closing the festivities is usually a laidback crowd enjoying the soothing jazz sounds and is usually hosted at the BotswanaCraft.
