Affectionately known as PP, Seagile was last week appointed the new Project Coordinator at BOMU. He will be responsible for managing all BOMU projects. According to a press statement signed by the music association the position comes as one of the strategies of the president, Michael Mmusi.
“As his strategy map, Mmusi who is the new president amongst the changes that he brings, is the introduction of a project coordinator position. The position is responsible for all BOMU projects, sourcing funds for the organisation, proposal preparation as well as aligning the organisation with the corporate industry,” read the statement.
Reached for comment, PP emphasised that his appointment is the leadership’s strategy to address all the negativity the music union has been receiving over the past years. “The plan really is to transform BOMU, so the union can appeal to current market trends. There is a lot we have planned for BOMU members. Not so far in the future we will have a situation where every artist would be proud to be a member of BOMU,” said the newly appointed PP.
Most critics view the move by the music union as step in the right direction. The union has in the past been blasted for failing to execute its duties. One of the most criticised BOMU projects has to be the annual BOMU Awards.
However, other critics question the criterion that was used to arrive at the decision to select PP for the position. Some are of the view that the position needed someone with a corporate background as well as extensive experience in project management.
