She entered the fray arrived on the scene in 2004 with her debut, Maphuthadichaba, which shot up music charts instantly making her a household name.
Born, Thulaganyo Gaerobale, 34, the Afro pop sensation walked into Showbiz offices to speak about the single yesterday.
She says that Kwa Pele was inspired by the Botswana 50th independence celebration. She says that in her song she talks about how Botswana has maintained its status as a peaceful nation, something which still eludes other countries.
“The song basically talks about my nation. How we are blessed with peace and love. The previous general elections saw some precedented changes within our political space though. Botswana is generally a peaceful country and that is what the song reflects,” she said.
Thulie rose to fame when she parted ways with Divine in 2003 to pursue a solo career.
Then, the group, famous for their hit track called O Tla Nkgopola, fell apart after her departure.
The move paid off the following year with the success of her debut album.
She received best Afro Pop album and Song of the Year nominations for her album at the BOMU awards after launching her solo career.
She released a follow up album, Kakapa in 2006, but it failed to reach her maiden album’s popularity status. She released a third album in 2009 called Kgeleke, which had eight tracks. The album was not successful too.
She is now back in the studio making a fourth attempt. She plans to release it later in the year.
However, she says she has not come up with a name for the album nor a date of release yet.
