The show, which is the brainchild of celebrated local comedian, Bafana Bobo Letsatsi, popularly known as Ribcracker, is normally held every Tuesday at Cresta President Hotel.

The free entrance mini-shows, called ‘Tuesday Cracker Nights’, give a platform to upcoming local comedians. On Friday, the first to take the stage was former My African Dream (MAD) presenter, Prince Macheng.

Macheng set the stage for one of the few local female comedians, Lebo ‘Enigma’ Tsiako.

Charles Manase, Brooks, Tshekedi and Crazy K followed on stage. The supporting acts were, however, outdone by the master of ceremony, Mod.

The crowd seemed to enjoy the host’s commentary more every time he introduced the next act. He would pass a few jokes during breaks leaving the crowd in laughter each time. Mod and the organiser of the show, Ribcracker are some of the pioneers of local stand up comedy.

Although having been previously accused of repeating the same jokes, and lacking creativity, Mod brought his ‘A’ game this time around. The main act of the night, the self-proclaimed queen of Zulu comedy, Celeste Ntuli closed the show in ‘laughter’.

Ntuli, who is now famous for her award winning role on South African soapie, Isibaya was first introduced to the Botswana crowd when she played host to Uganda’s Anne Kansiime last year. Cracker Nights was her first real gig in Botswana.

She opened with a jab at American reality TV star, Kim Kardashian-West.  She said, “The world is a funny place, Kim Kardashian goes and buys implants and she breaks the Internet, but I have been carrying this (she points at her front and behind) all my life baba.  Talk about breaking the Internet.  These are real, you can touch them”.

The lawyer-turned-comedian belted out some of her rib-splitting jokes throughout her 45-minute set.
