The artists born in Mahalapye, Vincent Mpho Tiro popularly known in music circles as Steez, released his sophomore, Mochinioichenchang Vol.1, on December 1, 2008, which became an instant hit.

The title track Mochinioichenchang earned him a place amongst the top rappers in the country back then.

He hopes his third album will repeat similar fortunes.

The man, who hosted popular Botswana Television (Btv) show Flava Dome with Pauline Mabelebele from 2005 to 2007, has already released three singles from the upcoming album.

The first two singles, Pula and My Botswana, premiered last Friday.

Steez, a former Pula Power presenter (2012 – 2015), explained last week that the two songs were inspired by the Botswana jubilee upcoming celebrations.

He said, “Most of my content comes from inspiration. And no doubt this year it’s all bout Boipuso.

It’s all about the 50th celebration of Botswana.

I wanted to tell the Botswana story through song, just like I did with the Zebras-inspired song when they qualified for the first time in history for the AFCON cup”.

The Ke Tshwere Lefoko hitmaker released his third single featuring Han-C titled, We Belong Together, this week.

“Basically I will be releasing singles until the album is finally ready for the world.

It has been a long time coming,” he said. Commenting on the Hip Hop scene of recent compared to  that of the time of his earlier releases, Steez said, “We do have talented young stars.

The only difference is then we were releasing albums, today they release singles, which are mostly internet links”.

“But this does not make us any better, it is today’s era,” Steez said when asked why the Hip Hop scene in Botswana has depreciated in popularity as compared to then when he first released the Streets Are Calling.
