The ex-Zebras players spent sometime in Palapye holding cells. The Palapye station commander Waboraro Ramaja confirmed this.
Ramaja said: “We are currently investigating a case against two former Zebras players.” Ramaja however could not go into details about the case, as he was in back-to-back meetings when this publication reached him. He however indicated that they were working with the Broadhurst Police to investigate the matter.
Reached for comment, Broadhurst acting station commander, Lenkgwetse Philimon also confirmed the incident. He however could not give more information saying that they were only roped in to assist with the investigations, but had not been briefed fully about the case.
He said the two were arrested in Palapye for suspected possession of what the police believe to be an illegal drug. Philimon also revealed that the samples had been sent to laboratories to confirm the nature of the drug and whether they were authorised to have the drug in their possession.
“We have only been asked to help with investigations because it seems like there is a connection to our area of jurisdiction, but the case is with the Palapye police,” said Philimon.
