Tshephang Khan, Wedu Sebina and Lekana Baipoledi are the trio that will represent the country at the international pageant, Princess of the World. Khan and Sebina are both 14-years-old and Baipoledi is 11-years-old.

“The girls are excited to show the world what Botswana has; we are 100 percent ready,” said Little Miss Universe Botswana licence holder, Tebogo ‘Tebbie’ Lebanna prior to their departure.

Lebanna said the pageant means a lot to the girls because it is a development tool to them.

The three models have been preparing for the pageant for quite some time as they have been meeting every weekend receiving mentorship from Lebanna who is a former Miss Botswana contestant.

Botswana is the only African country that will be participating at the Princess of the World pageant. Despite being the only African country at the pageant, Botswana is currently leading the online voting polls.

The online voting polls are closing on June 28.  Lebanna is hopeful that the trio will make an impression in Russia, “We came second in last year’s international pageant after South Africa, and so in this year’s pageant I strongly believe that we will bring crowns home”.

Wame Baleseng (15) represented the country last year when she became the second best contestant. Lebanna stated that the girls’ parents have been assisting with a number of things which also include dressing them for the grand finale.

Lebanna will also be put to test, as she will be one of the judges during the international pageant.

She is the only African on the judging panel. “I am not too ready to judge different cultures but let just let the game begin,” (sic).More than 15 countries will be participating at the pageant.
