The organisers however did not give much detail as to why Odega could not make it. The Facebook post read: “Public Announcement - Laugh out Loud Entertainment would like to announce that the Gerara Here Comedy Spectacle that was to be held tonight, the 30th June 2016 at the Stanbic Bank Piazza, has regrettably been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control.

Laugh out Loud Entertainment together with Odega sincerely apologise to the public that has been so supportive as well as the stakeholders and sponsorship partners involved.  New dates for the show will be announced in this very same page.” Tlotlo Letsomo from 6Pac Promotions explained that they had no choice but to cancel the show, because the main act, Odega, was stuck in Kenya due to Visa issues. He said the show would take place this month.

The Nigerian funny man was scheduled to go head -to-head with local comedian Jujuvine, radio personality and comedian Phaphani Paps Masalila and Charles Manase. Odega’s Gerara Here video clip went viral three years ago, becoming an instant hit with internet users. The clip played a major role in his acting career, which began as far back as 1996.

The clip has been viewed by millions around the world, earning Odega the Gerara Here title. American rapper 50 Cent at one point shared the video with his millions of followers on social media.

In his first interview with Nigerian magazine, Punch, after the video went viral, Odega was quoted saying “I don’t really know why it has taken the movie three years to garner this sort of recognition.

I joined Instagram two months ago, after some social media-savvy friends of mine played the Gerara Here video, which was posted on Instagram for me.

The number of comments that trailed the post blew me away...,” the actor said in respect to the sudden popularity of the video.
