Taking part in one of the most prestigious and largest European Choir competitions will serve as a lifetime achievement for Botswana as KTM exports and promotes Botswana culture.
As the most highly regarded choir in the country, KTM will showcase the Botswana’s talent. The choir hopes to go through joyous songs that are mainly derived from Setswana folktales like Tjuele.
With its music made to touch souls and keep people rooted in culture, the ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development made a generous grant to cover for the choir’s travel expenses.
Though the competition is set for next month, the country’s popular choir is pleading with the community to consider contributing to their trip to Sweden by offering them sponsorship for meals, accommodation and transportation for the time that they will be in Sweden.
The choir’s public relations practitioner, Charity Semere told Showtime in an interview that the competitions are expected to commence on the first of next month.
But due to lack of funds and accommodation expenses, they decided to cut their trip to August 5 until the 10th provided they do get generous gestures from the community.
This is a new turn of events for the better for KTM. Unlike last year when it failed to participate in the World Choir games due to lack of funds.
That was despite the fact that it became national champions of President’s Day competitions thus qualifying for the games.
“It will be a painful experience if they missed another chance that can possibly be a shot towards being the World champions due to lack of funds,” added Semere.
The choir currently has four albums the latest being Botswana which was released in celebration of the 50th year of independence of Botswana in 2016.
