The suspect Thomas Gilala, believed to be a Tanzanian national, was arrested recently at Divundu village in Namibia.  The investigating officer (IO) in the case, detective senior superintendent Sergeant Marapo revealed this yesterday while addressing Broadhurst Chief Magistrate, Lenah Oahile-Mokibe.

He said Gilala was recently arrested by Divundu police and was found in possession of four mobile phones belonging to the deceased.  Marapo went on to say Gilala was also found in possession of Methuseli Nsoliwa’s (one of the deceased) passport.

He stated that they have also gathered information that Gilala is the person who was last seen with the deceased.

“We have also established that Gilala communicated with the deceased prior to their deaths using Kativa Diwanga’s (another accused person) mobile phone.  We will on Thursday leave for Namibia to further investigation the matter,” Marapo said.

Gilala and Diwanga are accused of killing Nsoliwa, his wife Sibongile Marks and their daughter Melisa Marks in Gaborone on June 10, 2019.  Magistrate Oahile-Mokibe further remanded Diwanga in custody for the prosecution to conclude its Namibian investigation.
