On Saturday, they organised another tournament in Tlokweng, which featured Second Division side, Mogobane United as well as Sua Flamingoes and former Premier League giants, Notwane. The previous weekend they organised a tournament featuring Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Security Systems and Extension Gunners.

Lotlaamoreng said he was partly happy with how his side played on Saturday despite going down 2-1 in the final against second division side, Mogobane United. “Such tournaments are very important to us because they give us a shape physically. They also give us an opportunity to try combinations ahead of the season and despite missing several players today, I am happy that we were able to try out other combinations. We lost probably because of the attitude of the players because they underestimated their opponents in the final,” Lotlaamoreng said after the final game.  Police XI, despite missing the likes of Betsho Pius, still managed to show glimpses of brilliance with the likes of David Makakaba and Katlego Masole looking sharper ahead of the start of the season.

Masole in particular looked impressive in the middle of the park although he is used to playing at right back position. Jungle Kings had in the morning overcome Sua Flamingoes 2-0.

They finished at position eight last season, dropping two places down from the position they held the previous season. They will take on Township Rollers for the second season in a row in the quarterfinals of the Mascom Top 8.  Flamingoes on the other hand boasted several popular names on Saturday. Former Extension Gunners defender, Kerapetse Mosimanekgosi led from the back as well as Kagiso Tutuwe who has joined them from FC Satmos while former ECCO City Greens midfielder, Mmoloki Kafuko did his usual tricks in the midfield.  They went onto lose 1-0 in the losers’ final against Notwane.

Second division side, Mogobane United won the friendly tournament. They kicked off their campaign against Notwane and beat them 2-1 to progress to the final.  Notwane who were recently saved from suspension by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) general assembly looked rusty despite boasting some of the popular names in Premier League circles. They have since managed to keep players like Kereng Mpetang, Vincent Nzombe and Kebonyeone Selefa as they seek a return to the Premier League next season. Nzombe scored the only goal in the 1-0 win over Sua Flamingoes in the loser’s final.
