Mamelodi did not divulge much when contacted for comment yesterday, saying he was still being attended to by the doctors.

He has endured a torrid 2016 since his suspension in March.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Mamelodi will challenge the outcome of the ongoing forensic audit in court.

Mamelodi is clinging on to his post just by a thread as efforts to oust him intensify with an internal audit meant to be the final nail in the administrator’s coffin.

But Mamelodi is fighting on, and has already challenged an action to move him to the Botswana Football Association (BFA) to allow the audit to proceed uninterrupted.

But already the audit has faced questions after the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) questioned how a South African firm had been engaged without proper procedures. The law requires that firms engaged from outside should register through BICA.

But a source close to developments said Mamelodi is ready to return to court and challenge the audit’s findings in court. Reports are that the audit has unearthed financial impropriety.

“It is a bogus audit as the (BPL) board did not go through the required procedures as per BICA’s regulations. But whatever the outcome, it will have to be tested in a court of law,” the source said.

Mamelodi has endured a turbulent time since his suspension before he was thrown a temporary reprieve when former BFA president, Tebogo Sebego lifted his suspension prior to the general assembly. But he has faced a turbulent time since his return to office with the board instituting an audit, keen to get rid of the burly administrator.
