Borolong man faces murder charge

The state alleges that Orapeleng Monyamane murdered Goitsemodimo Rashane on May 25, 2019 at Borolong.

Sergeant Kabelo Pheto told Chief Magistrate Faith Dlamini-Ngandu that investigations in the matter had just commenced.

Pheto opposed the accused to be granted bail adding that he would call the investigating officer to motivate why the accused should not be granted bail.

Dlamini-Ngandu then told Pheto that there was no use to call the investigations officer at this stage since the matter was still fresh.

She said that a post-mortem was yet to be conducted on the body of the deceased adding that he is yet to be buried.

The magistrate denied the accused bail on the basis that the matter was still fresh. She further mentioned that the accused should not be granted bail in order to give the family of the deceased the chance to mourn their loved one.

“The accused should also be denied bail for his own safety. The accused is therefore, remanded in custody to allow the police to continue with their investigations and he shall appear in court on June 18, 2019 for another mention,” Dlamini-Ngandu said.
