HR Function Redefined For Post Diamond Economy

The two-day conference will be held on June 5 and 6, 2019 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre under the theme ‘Realising a high-performing innovative economy through transformative people strategies’.

Speaking at the press briefing recently, the chief executive officer-Progressive Institute Mmoloki Mmolotsi, who is one of the organisers of the event said they would be bringing together the greatest minds of the HR industry.

“The event will ensure that the HR community in the country and the region is ready to lead their workforce into an era of prosperity and ambition through progressive people strategies, agile working models, continuous working cultures and intelligent deployment of HR technology,” he said.

According to Mmolotsi, discussions at the conference would be centred on keeping the employee at the centre, thus ensuring that the workforce is ready to embrace the future of work. In addition he noted that the theme highlights the new world of work is evolving at an unprecedented pace with changes in technology, multi-generational workforces and global competition for talent hence the need to create HR that will lead the wave of change.

“Developing leadership, engaging staff and managing talent are now business priorities that hold the key to achieving Vision 2036 goals,” stated Mmolotsi.

When speaking about the objectives of the event,     Mmolotsi said that Botswana adopted Vision 2036 as a roadmap for economic growth and national development and that the country’s general objective, goals, and targets are to become a high-status income country.

He further highlighted that the event is aimed at ensuring people understand the role of Botswana’s HR community in realising Vision 2036.

“The event will also discuss on how they can design re-shaping workplace experience and organisational structure together with how they can facilitate continuous learning in the workplace as well as transformation of the HR business partner in Botswana,” he said.

He also stated that the event would be an interesting place to network with professionals of different sectors and learn about best practices used in the region.
