Boxers Ready For BOT50 Tourney

This follows the Amateur Boxing tournament that took place at Glen Valley on Saturday.

 “The tournament, which is used as preparation for BOT50 Boxing tournament has been successful. Boxer displayed good fitness as we count days to the tournament.

“We fixtured several national team boxers, the likes of Bakang Rakhudu of Mafika boxing club in this tournament who are preparing for international competitions and we are happy with their level of fitness,” he said. Maragana was also satisfied with the teams’ attendance.

“We are happy with the way the tournament has been attended. 

We had about 30 bouts and that is impressive,” he said.

Sixty boxers faced each other throughout the day in different weight categories.

In the women’s fixture, Katlego Olatotse of 125 Club beat Pear Masenyane of Glen Valley through a Technical Knock-Out (TKO). 

In the women’s fixtures, TKO prevailed with Cynthia Thantsa of Glen Valley flooring Lethabo Modukanele of UB.

In the men’s 64kg bouts, Kutlwano Ogaketse of DTCB beat Phane Outlalafetse of Francistown Club while Seitshiro Kabo of EMG beat Ngaka Moabi of DTCB through an unanimous decision.

In the 49kg, Lekopa Arthur of Francistown club beat Aobakwe Tsheno of EMG 3-0 while Tefo Ramupudu (UB) beat Phemelo Mphafe (BMC) through a TKO. In the 52kg bouts, Bakang Rakhudu (Mafika) beat Mmoloki Matlho of Francistown 2-1 and Keobaka Motsepe (BMC) knocked out Calvin as Otukile Mohammed saw off Marsh Mokwela (DTCB) 2-1.  In the 56kg fight, David Gakewaope (SSKB) lost 2-1 to Thabiso Mpolokeng (125).
