Chiefs have been run by two parallel committees, which are both recognised by the Registrar of Societies.

The other group held its meeting two months ago at Molefhi Senior Secondary School where some members were briefed about the departure of investor, Saayed Jamali.

On Saturday, the other group led by chairperson, Ramocha Tsieng held its meeting at Radikolo JSS where members were informed about the ongoing impasse where the two groups cannot reach common ground regarding the running of the club.

The Saturday meeting also saw the entire committee, which was voted in on interim basis last year retained to continue with its mandate. Ramocha remained the chairperson assisted by Chicken Sentshie.

Kitso Maswena retained his position as the secretary while Bontshetse Mojadife is his assistant. Godfrey Lekgabe will continue as the manager while Daniel Mampane is still the treasurer.  Additional members are Maribe Moje, Lampi Phiri as well as Masego Parafene. Ramocha told the poorly attended meeting that they are not a troublesome lot like other people are saying, but just that they want the right procedures to be followed.

He said even if people do not agree on certain things, the law has to be respected. “We met the other group several times to try and iron out issues, but we failed to reach common ground. The registrar informed both of us that the Arbitration Council was going to solve our issue, but has not been formed as yet,” Ramocha told members at the meeting.

He said the matter is now before the High Court, which is expected to make a determination on which committee is legitimately suited to run the club.

Maswena said his committee is currently struggling financially since they have not received any money from the club’s activities. He said they enquired about Chiefs prize money from the BFA and that it should be deposited into the society’s bank account.

He said during their enquiry about the Mascom Top 8 money, which amounted to P300,000, they found out that the money ended up right at the association because of garnishes.

He said they were informed that the other amount went to AT&T Monnakgotla transport for the debt owed at the time when the club travelled to Mozambique for a CAF assignment.  He said the rest went to Super Gym and other personal loans derived from individuals.

“We have also made our investigations regarding the league prize money, which amounts to P500,000. We have since learnt that the money is out, but cannot confirm where it went to because the Trust does not have an account,” he said.

Meanwhile, a section of supporters protested after being denied entry into the meeting. They felt they were being denied entry into a meeting, which affected their club but Ramocha said the supporters belonged to a Trust and not a Society.
