This followed failed negotiations between the BFA and Rollers after the association had requested the club to withdraw its appeal before CAS.

BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti told journalists last week Rollers’ insistence meant there are no champions for the past season until CAS makes a determination. However, a legal expert has contradicted BFA’s stance.

“That issue was closed at the (BFA) general assembly. Rollers and Chiefs were ordered to play and they did. Nobody appealed the play-off decision, instead they complied. The CAS ruling would certainly be of no consequence,” the official said.

He argued that an announcement was made at the general assembly and former BFA president, Tebogo Sebego’s speech was adopted by the meeting meaning the matter was closed.

“If CAS rules in favour of Rollers, it remains academic. Even if it’s against, it doesn’t change the position.

Rollers is appealing the National Disciplinary Committee decision just on whether (Ofentse) Nato was a defaulter or not. Our bodies proceeded on the basis that Nato had been found to be a defaulter, hence the play-off was ordered on that understanding.

There has been a lack of comprehension of the issues,” argued the legal mind.

Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs will receive P500,000 each from their prize money pending CAS decision. The winners will then receive the outstanding P500,000 once the case is finalised.

BFA chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoeng was brief in his response when reached for a comment. “The president (Letshwiti) has stated our position,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BFA will, on Thursday, hold a memorial service for its late Ghanaian technical director, Ben Koufie who passed away in July. Koufie will be laid to rest in Accra over the weekend.
