Botswana had scored 301 runs in their 50 overs but Rwanda wilted to 105 all out.

“The boys are still in. The mood never changed after the first game. Nothing is extra ordinary from other teams. We have to keep it simple and do all the basics right.

The tournament is so open we are still very much in it. We just have to win all our remaining games and make sure we keep our run rate as high as possible. We are going game after game,” Angara said. He noted that the first game might have been a setback when they lost to Ghana but his players are determined to win the remaining games. Despite teams such as Nigeria and Ghana having won all the games, Angara is optimistic.

“Our bowling has been good and on Monday our batting picked up and that’s the highest score so far in the competition and it raised our run rate. We just need to support our bowling with our fielding by taking all the catches,” the coach said.

The most experienced player in the team, skipper, Tharindu Perera played a captain’s knock against Rwanda but fell two runs short of a century. Yesterday, Botswana was due to face Tanzania and plays a competitive Nigeria today. The West Africans had won all their three matches as of yesterday. The tournament comprises Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Ghana.

The top two teams are promoted to Division One.
