Tsholofelo Foundation hosts Thanksgiving Independence Gathering event

The event was aimed at giving thanks to God for having protected the country for the last 50 years.

According to one of the sponsors and organiser from Mabijo Productions, Tebogo Motswetla, the event that was mainly a night of gospel was hosted to celebrate Botswana’s golden jubilee.

He said the proceeds of the event will be given to the Tsholofelo Foundation Orchestra and the Tsholofelo Children’s Centre at Old Naledi.

“We have observed that there are children who stay at Tsholofelo Children’s Centre and the centre needs to be renovated as some toilets and houses are dilapidated. That is why all the profits will be used to improve their livelihoods,” he said. The  night that was filled with praise and worship turned out to be a success as a number of the Christian community embraced the event. It was filled with a number of beautiful performances from a number of local gospel artists.

Young and talented gospel artist Omatla Lubinda blew the audience away with her beautiful melodies. Lubinda kept the audience on their feet through her beautiful voice. Her songs ‘He’ll do it again’, ‘Malibongwe’ and Ebenezer blew the audience away.

As if that was not enough, gospel maestros Phempheretlhe Pheto, Mmereki Marakakgoro and Lister Boleseng took the audience aback with their magnificent hymns. Pheto and Marakakgoro treated the audience with We are waiting while Pheto later sung his famous song ‘Lekunutu le Morena’ and Marakakgoro sung his song ‘Eet Sum More’ named after the biscuits. Boleseng sang ‘Joko Ea Hao’. Those gentlemen’s beautiful performances got the audience off their seats as they sung along in excitement.

Tshepo Lesole did not want to be left behind and did his best to keep up the momentum. The Emmanuel Kids also left the audience speechless with their beautiful performance. The group of four girls aging between eight to 10-years treated the audience with their song ‘Worthy Oh Lord’.

The event could have not been complete without the Trinity Church Choir, which is also turning its 50 years. The choir collaborated with the talented Tsholofelo Foundation Orchestra throughout all its performances.

Other performances were from Dr Kopano Mpuang-Allmon, Lebakwe Rabasha, Angelinah Montshiwa, Letlotlo Dikgang, Living Praise Band, Maungo Thabeng and Ricardo Baori.

Maitisong, Cresta President Hotel, Curry Pot, Kingdom Arts Academy, Mmegi newspaper, Mabijo Productions, Flight Connect and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture sponsored the event.
