Karate welcomes a visiting instructor from South Africa

It has always been a norm for a team due for the WKF championship to be sent outside the country for training but that has not been the case with the present team. BOKA spokesperson, Sensei Jerry Ditlhong said they have not been able to send the team for training outside the country due to financial crises. He said preparations for the World championship start today (Friday) with the arrival of Sensei Karin Prinsloo from South Africa.

Ditlhong said they have picked a team of athletes who won medals at the 2015 All Africa Games. He said Prinsloo would be in Botswana for two days only to share technical aspects of the sport. He said it was cheaper to bring in an instructor than send the team outside.

Ditlhong said the team has been training with their coach, Peter Molefe and it does not mean the arrival of the South African instructor means that preparations only resume today.

Reacting to the presence of David Mathe as head of delegation of the team, Ditlhong said it was a requirement that the BOKA president should be present because WKF was going to hold elections of the executive committee.

The team comprises Ofentse Bakwadi, Lame Hetanang and Loagonyana Pheko. The technical team is made up of Mathe (head of delegation), Mpho Bakwadi (referee), Lere Basupang (team manager) and Molefe (coach).

Brief achievements of Sensei Prinsloo: silver medal women kata, gold medal women individual kumite under 60kg, gold medal women team kata, bronze medal women individual kata, silver medal women individual kata, silver medal women under 60kg kumite, silver medal women team kumite and gold medal women open kumite.
