The club met in January where the executive committee led by chairperson, Walter Kgabung were mandated to change the constitution to fit in a new model as the club privatises.

“We also met in March in Francistown where we updated our members on the progress regarding the assignments given to us in January. We are meeting again to take them along on the progress made thus far. We have managed to amend the constitution and the general membership will be briefed on that,” Rollers spokesperson, Bafana Pheto said.

Pheto confirmed that Dickson Gabanakgosi has vacated his position as the president of the club. Gabanakgosi was voted into the position at the club’s general meeting in January where the general membership retained most of the executive committee members.

Although Pheto refused to state the reasons for Gabanakgosi’s departure, he did say that the constitution gives the executive committee the powers to co-opt someone best suited to replace him. Club financier, Jagdish Shah is said to be the preferred candidate to replace Gabanakgosi.

“We have to get someone who can be best suited for that position. The general membership will on Saturday be briefed on that decision as well as other things,” Pheto said.

Meanwhile, Pheto said they would launch new sponsors and kit on September 24 in Gaborone. Rollers have in the past few years managed to attract sponsors including Capital Bank. They have since brought on board another bank, Stanbic who are expected to be announced as the main sponsors.  “We will also parade the squad for the coming season as well as the new bus,” he said.
