BMS president, Simon Modisaeman had told our sister publication on Thursday that the meeting will proceed as planned at Maharaj Conference Centre, contradicting his deputy, David Mashonja who had said the meeting was off.

On Saturday morning when the Monitor Sport team arrived at the Maharaj Conference Centre, there was no sign of a meeting, with one employee saying the conference room had not been booked for the meeting. BMS has been under scrutiny after failing to hold the annual meeting last year with some members putting the blame on the president. It is said that there are some irregularities in the financial report hence the meeting could not proceed. “There are some faults in the financial report. There are deductions, which nobody can account for. So unless those are fixed we would never have an AGM. The same thing happened last year,” a source said on Saturday.

The meeting is important for the association, as the second executive committee election is due. The association has been struggling with funds as it was recently forced to trim a motocross team for the Kenya trip.
