Babui, who has won four bouts, lost one and drew two in a total of seven fights, will headline the event, which will include other bouts.
Speaking at the World Boxing Federation Africa launch on Friday at Pavilion Restaurant, he said hard work and discipline are doing wonders for him. He advised upcoming boxers not to give up and be self-motivated. He added that it is important to adhere to coaches’ instructions all the time.
Promoter and trainer, Thuso Khubamang at Professional Boxing of Botswana (PBAB) said they are grateful that they have been given the privilege to conduct bouts at anytime anywhere in the country, unlike before where they had to travel to South Africa to do all the proceedings before they could compete in professional boxing.
Vice president Seroba Binda stated that the need to promote boxing is shown through PBAB’s professionalism. He said it is important to alleviate it to a higher level just like any other sporting codes. PBAB was formed three years ago. “We intend to approach the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture Development (MYSC) to assist us as we promote boxing to grow tremendously and to create awareness for those who do not know much about the sport.
We also want the sport to reach as far as international level because at times it is difficult to reach due to lack of funds and well-trained and equipped personnel to officiate.” Tickets for the event are sold at P300 (VIP) and P100 (individuals).
