SPTECO through to BOTESSA softball championships

SPTECO men’s team won all their four games against Palapye Technical College (PATECO), Botswana College of Engineering and Technology (BCET), Gaborone Technical College (GTC) and Jwaneng Technical College (JTC), finishing at the top of the log with eight points.

Accompanying SPTECO to the nationals billed for October 22 in Francistown in the men’s category is PATECO, which finished in the second position with six points after winning three games out of four. According to Bracket C softball coordinator, Oeme Morupisi there were supposed to be only four teams competing for the two spots in the finals, noting that they ended up deciding to have five teams due to an unsolved tie amongst some three teams.

“The decision to have five teams battling it out here will not affect the proceeding at the finals as only two top teams were chosen,” he said. On the other hand, just like their male counterparts, SPTECO women’s team also won all their three games against GTC, Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE) and Oodi College of Applied Arts and Technology (OCAAT), finishing at the top of the log with six points. FCTVE also booked a seat in the finals after they finished second with four points.

The qualified teams will face their counterparts from Bracket A, which is made up of university teams while Bracket B teams consists of teams from teachers’ colleges.
