The incident happened at around 4:00am where the First National Bank of Botswana ATM was apparently bombed leaving it damaged.
This incident left members of the community in shock and fear, as there are several reported ATM robberies in the country.
Tlokweng police station commander, Unoziba Rari stated that the ATM robbery left the filling station pump damaged due to the blast effect on the machine. In the incident no suspect was caught and the investigations are ongoing.
“There were two security guards on duty, but left the place when rain started since they did not have any shelter to bear the harsh weather conditions. No one got injured in the incident,” Rari said. He added that the damages were not yet quantified.
In other cases reported over the Easter holidays, Selokwana residents in Tlokweng were attacked at night. Three cellphones amounting to P7,000 and one car were stolen, but the culprits later abandoned the vehicle on the roadside undamaged.
The police are carrying out the investigations into the matter. The police chief said they have prioritised patrol teams in places where crime is prevalent.
