Dramaboi did not ditch Orange Togetherness

The show took place last week Wednesday at the Molapo Stanbic Piazza featuring for the first time ever, South Africa’s ‘IT’ girl, Babes Wodumo of Wololo fame.
The show boasted a rich line up of the hottest artists in the country including amongst others, the top nominee at this year’s Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs) Ban T, Botswana’s very own ‘IT’ girl, Amantle Brown, DJ Goveiya, and DJ Kuchi amongst others.
Notably, the man who will soon launch his album, Township Music 2, Dramaboi, who was also on the line up as one of the favourites did not turn up. Quizzed on why Dramaboi did not pitch up, the event organiser Lesego Matlhware said: “ It was a complete oversight. It has nothing to do with Dramaboi. We take full responsibility for his absence.” We failed to meet up with his contract requirements on time. We only realised when it was too late,” Matlhware said. At the event however, local talent outclassed exported South African headline act, Babes Wodumo. The Kwa Zulu-Natal born 23-year-old who just recently shot to fame did not impress. Her 20 minutes on stage was merely captivating because of her dance moves rather than the music. Most could only relate with the song Wololo. Evidently she had to play the song twice to hype up the crowd.
Locally Amantle BW, of Moratiwa continued to win the hearts of music lovers. She was one of the best performers on the night next to the local deejays. The MCs of the night, Leungo Pitse (King Bee) and DJ Guyvos of Flava Dome also did not disappoint. Their collaboration on Botswana Television’s music show could also be seen on stage. With Gaborone having the biggest turn over since the show took to the road, next up on the menu is the village of Kanye. OTC will also be heading to Palapye before the final showdown in Tonota come December 24. Did the creators of OTC fall out?
Early this year, Mmegi exposed the alleged corruption within the BOT50 committee in the awarding of tenders. In the expose, what was of particular interest was the linkage between the brains behind the OTC.
Showbiz however has been exclusively informed that Matlhware now solely owns Togetherness Celebrations which does OTC.
Reached for comment, he refused to be dragged into the issue but only said: “I own 100% of the company now. That is all I have to say.”
