Venson-Moitoi is seeking to interdict the ruling party from holding the highly anticipated presidential election scheduled for Friday April 5 in Kang.
The case was initially allocated to Justice Modiri Letsididi but he recused himself and it was passed to Justice Ranier Busang who also recused himself due to ill health. This morning the third Judge Itumeleng Segopolo also recused himself.
On Tuesday the party disqualified 26 delegates who had sponsored Venson-Moitoi’s candidacy in the presidential contest against President Mokgweetsi Masisi.
The disqualification effectively rendered her candidacy invalid, as the BDP constitution requires her to have at least 50 delegates for nomination to contest
Venson-Moitoi wants the court to stop the election until she fully complies with the party’s constitutional requirement.
The case will be heard at 10:30am.
