Thrills of the Mascom Live Sessions

Mascom Live Sessions has been known to bring local acts and Africa's giants under one roof.
Zimbabwe's Mtukudzi and the band, which recently performed in the United States of America (USA), Sereetsi and the Natives, performed much to the liking of the audience.
Kick-starting the day was the Robete hit-makers Sereetsi and the Natives. The five men band, although having released just one album so far had attendants on their feet the entire performance. Most sang along to their favorite songs and cheered at the end of each song.
Most appreciated song by the band on the night was Robete. Robete became an instant hit when first released as it discusses the hotly debated homosexuality issues. Other favourite songs on the night included Chankaneng and Ke Boletsa Bongwe. They closed off their set with another hit, Thaa Kokome.
After Sereetsi and the Natives’ 45 minutes performance, it was now time for the man with 65 albums under his belt to showcase his performance skill. The few that were sitting down throughout Seeretsi and the Natives' performance, got up when the man popularly known as Tuku got onto the stage.
Mtukudzi arrived on the stage to a loud cheer from the crowd. Almost every year Mtukudzi is invited to perform at one of the Mascom Live Sessions shows and his fans make it a point not to miss the show.
Before he stepped on stage some people were discussing their favourite performances from his previous shows.
Apart from his all time hits, Mtukudzi's captivating stage performance is also something to write home about. The old man danced throughout his set receiving even louder cheers from the lively crowd.
Perhaps the most captivating moment of the night was when the lead singer of the band, Sereetsi and the Natives, Tomeletso Sereetsi joined Mtukudzi on stage.
The two guitarists, fused Botswana and Zimbabwean tunes, which had attendants screaming at the top of their voices.
Sereetsi would sing 'Botswana' with Mtukudzi responding with 'Zimbabwe' to seal off an already perfect night from the two performers.
