Disability is not inability

The movie centres around a young boy with autism but with vast loads of potential. Ben Affleck is an Oscar winning actor who is synonymous with this type of character roles. His films often focus on characters caught in situations out of their depth. He played such roles in box office hit movies like Gone Girl, Dawn of Justice and Pearl Harbour just to name a few. This time he adopts the life of Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck), a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organisations.
With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to take keen interest, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise. This captivating tale gets transformed into reality by Gavin O’Connor a small time director who has only worked with one major Hollywood star in Mad Max: Road Fury’s Tom Hardy, the two worked together in action blood sport Warrior in 2011.
Action
The Accountant is very colossal and explosive because the script is good and the screenplay is well coordinated. When watching this movie it fulfils one’s desire for action simply because it is so eventful with gun fights, martial arts as well as the mystery that suffocates the audience with very intriguing suspense. Worth noting action scenes include the one at the diner through which Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) wiped the whole Italian mafia in an instant and brought that feeling that you are in for a great viewing experience. The Accountant is also alluring with the fact that it also infuses corruption as you see the protagonist dealing with terrorists and being evasive to the law, thus adding an element of ferociousness to it. At some point it corresponds with acclaimed terror hit Tv series Homeland that also thrives with the deadly chess game that features terrorists, law enforcers fighting for dominance.
Meanwhile just like in Gone Girl, Affleck this time takes enthusiasts on rediscovery journey that sometimes society tends to shun, because of their physical conditions not knowing that particular being might have a certain aspect that may allow them to excel in life and be big achievers. I have to admit, The Accountant teases norms, perceptions of today’s societies. The film also gets to be inspirational in that regard, as movie enthusiasts get treated to a partially disabled boy turning into one of the world’s best mathematicians and more.
This thriller taps into themes of revenge, believe, disability, corruption, family amongst others that have our antagonist and protagonist embroiled in conflict of interest. I truly enjoyed the mystery element of The Accountant, watching Oscar award winner Affleck disguised as small time accountant but with huge skeletons in the closet. His clientele freaking out law enforcers, and Medina (Cynthia Addai) tracking our protagonist, leaving no stone untouched for suspicious motives.
The Accountant is also made ferocious by the dazzling cinematography. It gets movie enthusiasts drugged and enthused by flashback moments. Basically the film centres on the mystery and suspense of Ben Affleck’s identity and suspicious dealings. Like a roller coaster this thriller swings one’s imagination from side to side. This action blockbuster is on the level of John Wick, if you happen to recall Keanu Reaves from The Matrix’s other mercenary antic blockbuster. Ben Affleck’s silent yet lethal character in the movie is quite reminiscent of the legendary Steven Seagal roles. It does in a way put more emphasis on the famous proverb that never under estimate a quite person. So a parting shot from this blockbuster would be for the society to embrace the disabled so that they tap into their hidden potential.
Quotes from the movie that shed action
Christian Wolf-I have trouble socialising with people, but I want to.
Ray-The amount of secrets this guy has, how does he get out alive?
New movies: Another thriller is on the horizon as xXx: Return of Xander Cage will be serenading big screens in less than two months. January 19, 2017 Vin Diesel will be back to his rogue best directed by D. J Caruso.
