Regional Manager, James Benadie said they were confident of the new market they have just entered into, with only Clicks to compete with.
“We are excited. We did market research and the malls here are a mirror image of South African malls. This is a big opportunity of untapped market,” said Benadie.
Before handing the shop keys to the store manager Ephraim Titus, Benadie motivated the new excited staff. He said Dischem was a family and home to its employees, adding that the Dischem staff’s dedication is what sets it apart from competition.
He further said the brand’s success was rooted in a wide range of stock bigger than any other, as well as the best prices and great service. These three according to Benadie are interlinked and always should be applied together.
The arrival of Dischem is not only good news to the pharmaceutical demands of the country, but also to the community who will benefit from the Dischem Foundation. Benadie revealed that as customers buy and earn points, a percentage would go to the Foundation and would be ploughed back into the community.
Before receiving the store keys, Titus urged staff to be committed. “We will spend most of our time here and we need to be a family,” he said. The store has employed 35 citizens who include an in-store pharmacist.
