Town Clerk here, Oganne Gontse said the man forcefully closed the post office for four hours in protest against delayed payments and unfair treatment of Ipelegeng beneficiaries.

Seetso is the Ward Development Committee (VDC) member responsible for supervision of Ipeleng employees’ welfare and said he closed the post office because he felt authorities took them for granted.

“Ipelegeng employees are taken for granted. Our payment was supposed to be effected on 28 November but the post office administration told us the money to pay us was there but they will only pay the following day.

“As a VDC member I decided to act. I talked to the post office senior staff as to why we should always suffer when it comes to payments.

No reasons were put forward hence I decided to close down operations at the post office for four hours before I was detained,’’ he said.

He was detained overnight and released upon paying a fine.

The case was taken to the town clerk’s office where he was subsequently suspended from his duties as an Ipelegeng employee.

“This serves to suspend you from Ipelegeng duties for three months, with effect from 1st December 2016 to 28th February 2017.

This came due to the unbecoming behaviour you displayed at Woodhall Post Office on the 28th and 30th November 2016, of which the 28th November 2016 was a working day. Your behaviour contravened Article 7.1.2 of the revised guidelines for implementation of the Ipelegeng programme 2012,” reads the letter dated November 30.

Seetso responded to the letter referring to the town clerk’s office as lazy.

“I am disgusted in your correspondence which I received on 01 December 2016 which is a complete demonstration of laziness from your office.

The person who wrote the letter made reference to the law that is not there for someone to be suspended,” Seeletso letter reads in part.

He accused the town clerk of ignoring his concerns, warning that he is going to demand his P650 regardless of the suspension.
