Nchabeleng Delivers Indigenous Sound

Nchabeleng is on a 17-day tour dubbed Africa My Home Tour. The tour includes performances and facilitation of music workshops.
With the aid of his wide range of African instruments such as drums, marimba, mbira, lefoto, jaw harp, Nchabeleng played African sounds on the different pieces he performed.
He performed different songs such as Kolobe, Weledi plus Take Five and also paid tribute to the late Lundi Tyamara when he sang the latter’s hit song Mphefumlo Wami. The tribute was more of a mbira acoustic version.
While performing, Nchabeleng was full of energy as he was all over the stage playing the various instruments, while singing and chanting. At some point, while performing with his various instruments, he tried looking for one and shouted jokingly “one of my instruments has gone missing”.
Although a one-man show, Nchabeleng was joined by a few artists such as poet Mmakgosi Tau who recited a poem while the percussionist was on his tip. Keyboard player Mino and saxophonist Lawrence Sepakela brought in that jazzy touch to the indigenous African sound for the song titled Take Five.
Despite the poor attendance, Nchabeleng still enjoyed himself on stage as he would tell stories behind the different songs he performed and instruments he used in between his performances.
The percussionist staged a 45-minute performance that left the audience still yearning for more. After his performance, he opened the floor for a question and answer session.
Nchabeleng will be travelling to Francistown this week to facilitate a couple of workshops, and return to Gaborone to stage his last performance at Mantlwaneng Theatre this coming Thursday.
