The track titled Follo is her first new project to be released this year featuring Juju Boy. Its beat, composition and lyrics carries the Naija music funk, and could easily be mistaken for a Nigerian track until you hear some Setswana lyrics.
“Yes this is my new approach to music, I have to be diverse with the sound. As you can see the Naija music is currently trending, even Americans are now on the same tip; they are capitalising on the sound. This sound is the in thing at the moment,” Amantle Brown said.
The songstress openly admitted that having previously worked with Nigerian artist, Naija Boy who is locally based, she had some attachment to the sound. The two worked on a track titled Mukele, which was not well marketed and promoted.
Talking of how the song was conceptualised, both Amantle and Juju Boy noted that they just found ground and chemistry while they were working on a new song, “we already hang around together so it was not difficult working on this song because we know each other,” Juju Boy said.
Amantle said they would both use their contacts to help market the track on an international scale. “We want to make it an international song, it’s already playing in Zambia, South Africa and UK”.
The track can only be purchased on digital music stores and is not available for free downloads on platforms such as Data file host. Amantle Brown made it clear that she would not be giving away the song for free.
“I made people get used to getting songs for free, as artists we invest and spend a lot during the production process. If people can use the internet everyday, it means they can also purchase the song online,” she said.
With the track from her multi-award winning album, Sa Pelo the Moratiwa sensation noted that this year she will focus on releasing singles, as opposed to an album because most of the songs from her previous album are yet to make an impact.
