Inaugural gospel awards a success

Leah won the most awards by scooping the award for best gospel artist of the year, best newcomer, gospel album of the year, and song of the year.
Moyoress Molefi also won three awards being the best traditional gospel, best gospel music DVD and best female gospel artist.
Bryan B Dub was also man of the moment as he walked away with awards for best hip-hop motswako gospel, best male gospel artist and best-packaged album.
The artists were recognised for their remarkable work at the event hosted at the Winners’ Chapel International where multitudes of worshipers attended to encourage the gospel artists to continue to spread the Good News.
Besides the award winners, the audience was treated to motivating performances from Botswana’s own Vee Mampeezy and Tebby, and artists like Busi, Obakeng Sengwaketse, including Spirit of Praise from South Africa, Fakazi Samuel from Swaziland, and Lady Dyna from Namibia.
Giving a speech before the awards gospel sensation, Obakeng Sengwaketse said the association of music is very difficult, but by the love of God, they needed people’s support in order for gospel to reach a wider audience.
For her part, the president of BOGMA, Gloria Dzwikiti said she had a vision to host the ceremony and was happy that the will of God was done. “I want to thank everyone who helped us to achieve the vision of encouraging gospel artists to continue preaching the gospel through their music by giving them awards,” she said.
