Fanfare Greets Kast At Finish Line

Upon his arrival at Riverwalk, which was where his finish line for the 1,000km walk was, he was welcomed by hordes of fans, family, government officials and fellow artists who cheered him on as congratulatory messages poured in.
Kast was under heavy security as the crowd was ecstatic. Excitement was pretty high because everyone wanted to shake the hand of the Ndono rapper and show him their appreciation.
Kast, who was complaining a few days ago of lack of sponsors for his Tlatsa Lebala event, was slapped with a big surprise from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSC).
MYSC assistant minister, Kefentse Mzwinila announced that the ministry will take care of the P265,000 stadium cost.
“I encourage the youth to unite and use their God-given talent. I would like to believe that this is no longer an event but an ongoing process. We believe in Kast,” said the assistant minister.
This came unexpectedly as Kast was pleading for help from government, individuals and the corporate world.
The cover costs for the stadium include elements such as lights, water bill, turf labour, forklift and refundable security fee.
The rapper, who still had a brave face despite walking 1,000km for the past 33 days, expressed his gratitude towards the MYSC covering the costs.
“Thanks to you all who supported me and made the government be aware of this cause. If it wasn’t for you all this would not have happened. Batswana are the most supportive people.
Let’s help each other succeed because if we do not do it together, we can’t make it in life. Botshelo (life) is abundant with opportunities, you are made in the image of God. We have to go for what we like, we have to support each other. You guys have made my dreams come true. You guys have carried me this far,” the Sejabana rapper said as he quickly cut his speech short to perform his latest track.
The track titled Wamotseba Kast was recorded during the walk when music producer Rimzy visited Kast with his recording equipment.
They sat in a tent and recorded the song. For someone who walked from Maun to Gaborone, Kast was looking energetic. This could be seen by the energy levels he displayed on stage performing his latest track.
His family including his wife, son and mother were also present.
Also present at Kast’s arrival ceremony was the Mayor of Gaborone, Kagiso Thutlwe who expressed excitement towards the completion of the Tlatsa Lebala walk.
“It really means a lot to see someone walk 1,000km for a cause to get support from the country. When a person has a dream we should support it as one. My wish is to see the stadium packed on May 6,” he said.
Kast’s former schoolmate and St Joseph’s College alumni, Vee Mampeezy also came through to the welcome ceremony to perform for his long time friend.
During Vee’s performance it started raining and people said, “Kast o gorogile ka pula”, a sign that Tlatsa Lebala will be a success.
The rain did not stop the fun as Vee continued with his performance as people danced in the rain.
