Opportunity for acting parts in new TV drama

The auditions are set to take place on Saturday and Sunday with winning candidates getting the opportunity to feature in the TV drama titled Colours.

The film needs a total of 40 screen actors aged between 18 to 60 years of age to fill the parts of the different characters.

“We are basically looking for talented Batswana actors, professional and upcoming.  A nice balance will suffice, so that we nurture new talent and at the same time the professionals will give the show more appeal with well known faces,” the TV drama creator Samuel Ngwenya said.

He noted that the auditioning individuals are not required to bring any scripts or registration fee since they will be given scripts to use at the auditions.   “All they need to bring is their talent,” Ngewnya said.

He hinted that they are mainly interested in actors that possess certain traits such as punctuality and a good command of both English and Setswana.

Present at the TV drama auditions will be a panel of film experts that will be doing the judging.

It has not yet been announced if the TV drama will be aired on national television or pay TV channels.

This will be a good opportunity for Batswana actors since the television drama industry is not fully active in the country as there are fewer TV drama productions for the growing acting talents.

Swanky Arrys has previously produced a TV programme titled Health Chart for Btv.

The production company comprises of film experts such as Ngwenya, South African acting coach, Godfrey Thobejane and film director, Bonginhlanhla Ncube, who is a committee member of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAS).

Ngwenya noted that part of the production crew is young creatives that obtained film production skills from different local institutions.
