The workshop, which will be conducted at Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC), will run from tomorrow until Saturday. The duo arrived in the country yesterday late afternoon.
“The Performers workshops will seek to equip artists to use their creative craft towards social and community development with HIV/AIDS prevention and health promotion as the primary subject matter for this series of workshops.
The presence of Hungani and Stephanie at this workshop is pivotal in that they are well positioned to facilitate the workshop given their diverse experience as young talent in the competitive South African performing arts industry,” said Tshepiso Maruping, the programme coordinator from Dreams Alive Club, which is hosting the workshop.
Dreams Alive Club has continuously brought celebrity artists such as Reyna Joy Banks, and The Empire duo, Morroco Omari and Carol Hardaway, to facilitate workshops of such a calibre. The workshop is open to artists from different backgrounds.
Maruping noted that the workshop is targeted at artists aged between nine to 35-years of age that are passionate about the arts.
During the workshops Ndlovu and Sandows will focus on different art disciplines such as dance, modelling and acting.
“The South African pair is also well positioned in the industry to create opportunities and facilitate exchanges for Batswana talent in South Africa.”
Apart from acting on Scandal the duo has wide expertise in different areas within the creative industry. Ndlovu trades as an actor, dancer, emcee and is the founder of the SANS GROUP Creative Arts Training Movement in Johannesburg.
Sandows is a presenter, casting director, motivational speaker and actress.
The workshops have been divided into different classes such as pre-teens fun it includes acting and dance, the second one is presenting and modelling masterclass.
The third one being beginners/intermediate dance and acting the last one being advanced dance and acting.
“On the final day of our performers workshops, we shall invite a youth audience from different organisations that deal with HIV orphaned, vulnerable adolescents and others from neighborhoods where HIV/AIDS infection is prevalent.
The youth audience will be invited to watch and to interact with the messaging exhibited and communicated at the performers showcase.
The invited adolescents shall participate in this showcase and the subsequent discussions. It is important to highlight that while there are several HIV/AIDS intervention programmes in Botswana, they rarely target the youth,” Maruping said.
