Botswana Companies Participates At ZITF

In its effort to promote Botswana products and explore new markets, BITC this year sent eleven companies from Botswana to take part in the ZITF.

The aim of this outward trade mission was to introduce Botswana companies and their products to the Zimbabwean market as well as maintain trade relations between the two countries.

The Zimbabwean markets’ export potential is informed by a market survey previously carried out by BITC to ascertain the demand levels for Botswana products as well as logistics of market access, productsupport channels and entry strategies and all regulations regarding importation of goods into Zimbabwe.

Through this survey, BITC was able to identify that the Zimbabwe market offers many opportunities for companies from Botswana to export into Zimbabwe and that there is potential for the country’s products.

The companies that were represented are from the manufacturing sector with products such as floor tiles, tobacco, fragrances, leather goods, home/industrial cleaning detergents and concrete products.

The service sector was also represented. Companies that participated are F&G Botswana, techno mobile-shop fitting, splurge investment – soap and cleaning detergents, Kalahari floor tiles, ABM university, Onkemps – leather bags, Big Sam Hubber- Tour Operator, Hansonic investments – concrete Roof Tiles, Serowe Cooperative – Soap Detergents, Task Manufactures – clothing and Textile and Lucky Adventure Safaris – Tourism.

ZITF is one of the biggest trade fairs in Southern Africa and attracted approximately 650 companies from 16 different countries in 2016, across different sectors.

During the fair, companies had the opportunity to network and meet potential buyers, distributors and agents for their products and services.

This was yet another initiative by BITC to assist local companies to promote their goods and services internationally and explore international export markets and create contacts, with the main aim being to develop and increase Botswana’s export offering.
