The three were selected to represent the country after they emerged as the top finalists in the local pageant, Princess of the World, which was held last year December. Seloi was the queen, Baipoledi was the first princess and Ratau was the second princess.

Preparations for the international pageant have already started with the girls going through boot camp and mentorship programmes such as photo shoots, which is a build up to the photo shoot competition. The models are under the mentorship of Tebogo Lebanna the Princess of the World Botswana pageant director and former Miss Petite One Mariri.

“The girls are excited to be competing with contestants from other countries. We did well last year and they are getting ready to do more than that. We are starting rehearsals on Saturday. We will be recapping from last year’s international pageant rules,” Lebanna said.

One of the models, Seloi is under the mentorship of Mophato Dance Theatre, as she will be showcasing dance during the talent category.

Lebanna noted that the models are going to the international pageant with a positive mind. “We should expect crowns again because when we were there last year I saw everything that was needed.  Now I am correcting and preparing for all that is needed.”

In 2015 Wame Baleseng came second at the same international pageant that was held in the United States of America (USA).

The pageant will have contestants from different countries around the world. It is set to take place on June 23.

“This pageant is important because it gives children an opportunity to compete with other children from all over the world, giving them more experience so that when they do bigger pageants such as Miss World they will be knowing exactly what to do and what is required.

Too often we fail to bring big world crowns because we don’t have the experience at an early age and we meet models who are very experienced from a young age.”
