BBA will take over all the logistics from local tournament promoter, Hoop City after Federation of International Basketball Associations (FIBA) announced that associations should take charge of teams that will take part in the qualifiers.

The move comes after BBA had refused to endorse the local Hoop City 3x3 tournament at the early stages this year.

“We have been communicating with Blue Bloods captain, Ratanang Tsayang and we told him to give us a list of everything that they need.  We are willing to help them in each and every step towards the qualifiers,” BBA president, Boineelo Hardy said. She admitted there were hiccups between the association and Hoop City, but that does not mean the development of basketball in the country should stop.

Hoop City communications manager, Tumelo Boima said they did not have a problem with the association taking over. “We just hope for the best and wish they take charge in the way they are supposed to be.  It’s all about growing the sport and building a relationship with the association,” Boima said.

He said at this stage there is no role that Hoop City plays regarding the Blue Bloods preparations.

“For us as a team we do not have an issue regarding this new set up. We just want to play and compete.

We have already started preparing for the qualifiers through training and going to the gym,” Blue Bloods captain, Tsayang said.

Blue Bloods are without the guidance of a coach.  The qualifiers were supposed to be held in May, but were postponed to a yet to be announced date after teams did not register.
