New BOPSSA patron targets partnerships

Kgoboko, who is the founder and chief executive officer of FMK Global Holdings Engineering and Consultancy, was launched at the BOPSSA annual general meeting that was held last week in Gaborone.
Speaking to Mmegi Sport after the launch, Kgoboko said his first approach is to assist BOPSSA build relationships with different stakeholders to ensure that the association finds sponsors to meet their needs. He said he is going to ensure that the association builds their own Athletes Village to mobilise resources saying that with his experience in engineering, it is going to be easy to design it.
“I am very excited to join BOPSSA with a dream to see sports at grassroots taken very seriously and given assistance from both private sector and the government. With the Athletes Village we are going to seek the assistance from the Ministry of Lands for the provision of land and of course from different stakeholders,” Kgoboko said. He said his duties are clear and he will do everything to make sure that BOPSSA achieves its goals.
Apart from that the association has partnerships with some hotels, t-shirt manufacturing companies, sports shops and printing companies amongst others. The association has been struggling to bring sponsors on board, however, they have reached out to seek assistance from the newly appointed patron to assist in penetrating the market to find potential entities.
For his remarks the president of BOPSSA, Busani Segweni expressed his gratitude to Kgoboko for agreeing to be their patron. He said the appointment came at the right time where they are focussed and determined to build a BOPSSA village, a centre that will be a bee-hive of their activities.
“It is not going to be easy to build it. However, we have to face it since it would be for the benefit of our athletes in future. We need to mobilise resources to make this dream possible, therefore we believe that with the assistance from our patron and other stakeholders,” Segweni said. He said moving forward together with Botswana Integrated Sport Association (BISA), they have planned to hold the second national competitions where they will proceed to host the COSSASA games in Francistown.
