He is scheduled to perform at the 2017 Kistrech International Poetry Festival in Kenya and the KRITYA International Poetry Festival in India.
“All these invitations were possible due to the networking I did with international poets and people during the last Maun Poetry Festival, which then linked me to getting invitations in both India and Kenya,” the 33-year-old Kunta said.
He stated that this will be an opportunity for him to not only exhibit his spoken word talent on an international stage, but also sell Botswana to the world.
Both platforms, Kistrech International Poetry Festival and KRITYA International Poetry Festival, are high profile events that have creative artists from different countries sharing the stage.
“I am confident that I will deliver some good performances since I have performed on almost all the big stages in the country.”
He has previously performed at local festivals such as the Maun International Festival, Maitisong Festival and Fete De La Musique.
The spoken word artist has over the years showen keen interest and passion in poetry as he has participated in a number of open mic sessions despite his wealth of experience.
“I have always been an enthusiast, I take all the stages seriously.”
Having received the invitations Kunta is working on acquiring funds for both trips. “At the moment I am knocking on different doors seeking funds so that I can be able to travel and perform at the festivals. I believe I will get some positive response,” Kunta said.
Meanwhile, the artist is working on completing recorded music and poetry pieces, which are scheduled for release on a date soon to be announced.
Apart from that Kunta and his team recently launched the Hip Hop Interlude, a weekly hip hop event.
