“This is a prayer for Africa with a lot of atrocities such as wars so we are praying for the African continent. We are studying and researching on different African worship and we praise God so that we can incorporate them in our performance during the concert because after all we worship one God. We want to praise with everyone under one roof,” WMP leader, Vusumuzi Botshelo told Showbiz.
The live performance will have WMP staging performances in different languages and cultures such as Venda, Swahili, Ndebele, Zulu, Kalanga and Tswana to mention but a few. “We are in the stages of composing new material in different languages. We will also be redefining some old hymns into different languages. We are working closely with people from different countries that are mentoring and teaching us the different languages,” he highlighted.
He stated that the process is going well since his choir does not only comprise of Batswana, but also people of different nationalities, who are also playing a big role on this project. Apart from having people from different African nations worshiping together, Botshelo stated that the other objective is to take WMP to different people around the continent.
The event will also feature South African Venda native and artist, Rofhiwa Manyanga and local gospel artist, Vusi Mtokufa, who will stage performances with WMP. “The current issue we are facing as gospel artists is the lack of revival of the music genre, it has been lagging behind and this has to change.
Corporates are not even realising the impact that gospel music can have on their brands. Very soon we will stage a campaign to fill up the Stanbic Bank Piazza,” he highlighted.
On the same night of Africa Unite WMP will be shooting live for a DVD. Some of the videos they have recorded in their previous performances will air on international gospel TV stations such as One Gospel.
