The event is a collaboration between the University of Botswana (UB) and Letsatsi Dance Theatre to improve culture awareness within UB and other tertiary institutions.
“We had to cancel the event because the preparations were not yet finalised on the marketing aspect of things. We have decided to move it to October on a date yet to be announced. There will be no changes but still the same acts,” the artists coordinator and cast member of Letsatsi Dance Theatre Bontle Mogwera said.
With the event having been postponed, this has given other performers an opportunity to take part during the event. The event team has also announced that they are looking for cultural performers from actors, dancers, drummers and singers.
The ensemble is scheduled to stage Mr Kgosi Dijeje, an African musical comedy depicting how the African community life was like before the coming of Europeans and how life changed when the white men settled in the community. “There are different themes in the production that can teach people a lot. This is one of the objectives for this initiative,” she said.
The production has been played before and it featured seasoned artists such Ntirelang Berman.
