Nchindo Co-Accused To Appear In Court Today

The accused are facing 36 counts of corruption.

Legal proceedings are set to continue today before Regional Magistrate (South) Lot Moroka in the marathon case that has been running for two years now.  Questions have been lingering in the public mind as to what will happen to the case now that the main suspect has passed on. Legal commentators have been quoted in the local media saying that charges against the late Nchindo will be dropped, but not so for the co-accused who still have to answer to the charges.

Another question is on the representation of Nchindo's co-accused. It has been reported that before his demise, Nchindo had taken his legal files from the Collins Newman Company and attorney Dick Bayford has been quoted in the local media confirming that the late Nchindo had given him court files.

Bayford however said the late Nchindo had not given him any instructions.

One other question is on the legal bill.  Now that Nchindo, who is understood to have been footing the legal bill, is late, it remains to be seen who will take over payment.  The other accused, namely Garvas Nchindo, Sesinyi and Matome were largely seen as collateral damage in a case that was aimed at the big fish.

The court hearing today is expected to confirm the month of April for trial.
