Kaone Kario now modelling in New York

In her blog that is also on her tweeter page, Kaone declares that she is in New York to claim what is hers - success.

However, the model who holds a diploma in media studies, says since she started modelling, New York has been a market she avoided with everything she had. 'Looking back I know it was probably fear holding me back, you know the fear that you just aren't pretty enough, just aren't skinny enough, bloody hell just aren't enough in all ways. Anyway thank God I let go of it.'

'When I got the call that I had been signed to an agency here, Muse, and that they want me to come test the waters in this market I thought, what the heck LETS, so here I am, in FREEZING New York, pushing and pursuing this dream I tried so hard to run away from,' writes Kaone.

'The other day, on the 20th of January, I got my first booking here, it was a beauty editorial for an online magazine. When I got the email from the agency and got the job details, my first thought was, seriously! Ooh my, you gotta be kidding me, this is small change. I thought I didn't come all this way to make a couple of rands (after converting the rate to rands. Hehe). Hell, I can do that in SA, a much warmer place. But then a little voice reminded me that, one has to start somewhere.'

Kaone had been based in Cape Town since winning the Nokia Face of Africa, where she hit the headlines as a super model, gracing magazines such as Elle, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour. She also had the likes of Nivea, Mr Price, Edgars, and Woolworths as regular clients.

Kaone's television stints include hosting Face of Africa scouting in 2008 and hosting the actual show in 2009-2010. 'I have never felt more alive than when I am in front of live television audience', the model blogged.
