Btv to screen Zebras-Bafana Game

There was confusion over whether the game would be aired after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) warned the Botswana Football Association (BFA) that Btv would not be allowed to screen the game because they are not using terrestrial mode as per CAF requirements.

Terrestrial television is a mode of broadcasting which does not involve satellite transmission or cables and since Btv uses satellite there would have been spillage to other broadcasters all across the world.Btv's head of sports, Edson Malebane said he was not in a position to comment on the issue, saying: 'We will only announce to the nation when we are ready.' But the station had already started flighting advertisements for the game yesterday.BFA chief executive officer (CEO), Duncan Kgame told journalists on Wednesday that SportFive had given the national broadcaster the go-ahead to screen the game on condition that they use terrestrial mode.

SportFive hold exclusive rights marketing and media rights of matches organised by the continental soccer body, CAF, including the current qualifiers. The France-based company's deal with CAF runs until 2016.
