Cairns continues to impress at World Bowls Championships

 

After the weekend, Cairns had accumulated six points out of the possible 10 after getting wins against Hisaharu Satoh (Japan), Jacky Wong (China) and Roy Garden of Zimbabwe.  Botswana Bowling Association (BBA) spokesperson, John Gaborutwe told Mmegi Sport that Cairns has so far lost only two games against the tournament favourites, Tony Grandtham of New Zealand and Izzat Sharmeer Dzulkepie of Malaysia.The Orapa Bowls Club player is Botswana's reigning men's singles champion. He won Botswana's men's singles title in May last year.

He was also the runner-up for both Botswana Masters and National Men's Fours Championships in 2011. Gaborutwe said that Cairns is currently ranked third in his World Cup section behind Mark Casey of Australia and Grandtham. Cairns is left with five more games against Singapore, Malta, Ireland, Macao and Australia to qualify for the semi finals. The tournament ends tomorrow.
