2012/2013 Boosta Bash a big flop!

Party goers complained about the venue chosen for the Boosta Bash this year, poor sound quality and even the artists' line up which many said consisted of too many international acts. More complaints focused on the fact that promoters of the show advertised that there would be two stages, when in fact there was only one. Moreover, it was  said that people could take their own cooler boxers into the venue for free, when this was not the case at all.As if  this was not enough, there were complaints of the sale of fake tickets that prevented many from entering the Boosta Bash.

One of the organisers, Seabelo Modibe, told Showbiz that the event failed because of the forged tickets.'The one reason and the most important one is the forged tickets. We lost close to P400,  000  and couldn't pay suppliers or some of the performing artists,' he said adding; 'These guys stole a lot of money from people and caused so much frustration for the attendees.'

He added that the culprits, who also forged tickets for the Palapye Clap Your Hands event that was to be  held in Palapye on the 24th December, had been caught and that their case was being handled at Urban Police Station in Gaborone. Modibe expressed his frustration at the negative publicity that the event has received, saying people seem to have forgotten Boosta Bash's success in the past five years.'People are not interested in the primary reason as to why the show failed and instead choose to focus on negative aspects that are based on assumptions and not facts,' he said.

Addressing complaints that the attendees had raised, Modibe pointed out that some of the issues were beyond their (organisers) control and it was very unfortunate that they couldn't handle them.  'About the venue, people need to understand that Bojanala Waterfront has a different topography from all other venues. So many successful events have been held there in the past. The rain might have contributed to its current state.' he said. Many attendees questioned why the organisers moved from The Lions Park Resort that has been the venue of the Boosta Bash and Modibe cited health and security as reasons for the move.

Speaking about the poor sound quality, Olebogeng Letlhogela, who is one of the organisers of the show-said that came as a result of a fallen tower.  'The sound was set up  two days before the event. We even had sound checks and everything was fine. But one of the towers fell due to the rain and winds and had to be re-set,' Letlhogela explained.  He also explained that the second stage couldn't be set up where it was originally planned because it was not fit for use. Modibe continued to lament  the amount of money they had lost and pleaded with the public to show a little bit of sympathy for the organisers of Boosta Bash. He said that if the public focuses on the negatives and not positives, they further frustrate the people who walked away with half or no payment, the sponsors of the show as well as the suppliers.
