Maiden live recording for JIC

The youthful outfit conducts its inaugural album recording at Boipuso Hall on Saturday.JIC has partnered with a renowned local event management company, Brave Heart.  Brave Heart, who brought Joyous Celebration in 2011, are experts in the areas of sound, stage and lighting and will produce the live recording.

JIC public relations officer (PRO) Batho Motlhake is delighted about the recording and has promised music lovers nothing short of a spectacular night.  'People should come and enjoy four hours of some nice praise and worship. The idea is to take the JIC brand to the people all over the country, regionally and then worldwide,' Motlhake told Showbiz.  JIC will belt out close to 20 songs on the night.  The group shared the stage with American preacher and singer, Juanita Bynum, when she visited Botswana in September 2011.

They displayed a lot of versatility, singing traditional African hymns, the typical American worship, contemporary worship and Kwasa Gospel praise.  JIC have also performed alongside South Africa's gospel heavyweights, including Benjamin Dube, Rebecca Malope and Solly Mahlangu.  Their two international tours were to Windhoek, Namibia, and Brussels, Belgium.  Some of the group's already recorded artists include Joel Rebaone, Otsogile Tseleng and Tshepo Lesole who are expected to spice up the event by performing songs from their solo projects.

Made up of a 20-member choir that is backed by a six-piece band and a group of skilful dancers, JIC are based in Gaborone.  'We endeavour to engage the youth and celebrate the culture of worship through music and art. The Lord is using us as his instruments to ignite a fire that would spread throughout the world like a raging inferno on a cold winter night, taking Africa back to God,' reads JIC's press release.

The group comprises young artists and Motlhake says their desire is to see them rise and stand out as solo artists of great renown. Some of the local household names that came through JIC ranks are Bakkie Molaodi, Tebogo 'Tebby' Sethomo, Suggie Fisher, Bonnie Fisher and Thabang Garogwe.
